A major change in the law affecting IRAs went into effect on January 1, 2020, known as the SECURE Act. The aspect of that law that has the most widespread impact on estate planning is the new requirement that inherited IRAs must be fully paid to heirs within 10 years of the death of the IRA owner. That is the new Minimum Required Distribution.
