Living in Fairfield, Ohio & What Makes the Area Unique

Fairfield is a residential suburb of the city of Cincinnati. Fairfield is located within two counties in Ohio: Butler County and Hamilton County. As of the most recent census, more than 42,5100 people lived within the Fairfield area, which spans a total of 21.06 square miles. All but .12 square miles of Fairfield is located on land.

Fairfield has one of the largest school districts in all of Ohio, and it is also the headquarters of Cincinnati Financial, an Ohio-based insurance company and the largest employer in the Fairfield area. Fairfield is also known for the Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy, which is one of the most elite gymnastics programs throughout the entire United States and which has trained several gymnasts who competed for the United States in the Olympic games.

Senior Services and Medicaid Planning in Fairfield, Ohio

In Fairfield, Ohio, 9.3% of households were comprised of a senior aged 65 or older who was living alone, as of the most recent census. Often it becomes necessary for seniors—and especially seniors who are living independently—to get a little extra help and support in order to stay connected to their communities, to get sufficient nutrition, or to get transportation. There are services in Fairfield available to seniors, including:

  • The Butler County Elderly Services Program: Administered by the The Southwestern Ohio Council on Aging, this program can be reached via phone at 513-868-9281. Many different kinds of services are made accessible through this program, including meals and nutrition counseling, transportation help, assistance with independent living, home repairs and modifications, consumer directed care, adult daycare, care management, and medical equipment.
  • Hamilton County Job and Family Services: Hamilton County Job and Family Services investigates reports of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Caseworkers can work with families, social service agencies, and community groups to help ensure that the needs of vulnerable seniors are met.

When these community-based services are insufficient to meet a senior’s needs, it may become necessary for the older person to qualify for various government programs like Medicaid. Medicaid is one of the primary sources of payments for nursing home care for Fairfield residents, but seniors will need to work with an experienced attorney to make sure they can get covered by Medicaid without first having to spend all of their money and losing the chance to leave a legacy.

Zimmer Law Firm can help seniors to identify the full range of benefits that they could potentially qualify for through government programs. Our legal team can also help you to protect assets while getting Medicaid to cover the costs of your nursing home care.

Probate and Guardianship Help for Families in Fairfield, OH

If your loved one is incapacitated or if your loved one has passed away, you may find yourself needing to go to probate court. You may need to initiate guardianship proceedings to get authority to manage the affairs of an incapacitated family member. The probate process, on the other hand, occurs after a death and is the process used to facilitate the transfer of the deceased’s assets to new owners.

Probate proceedings or guardianship proceedings must take place in the county where the deceased or incapacitated person lived. This means if the deceased lived in Fairfield, Ohio, the appropriate probate court is either in Butler County or in Hamilton County, depending upon the part of Fairfield where the deceased lived. The Butler County probate court can be reached at 513-887-3294 and is located at 101 High Street in Hamilton, Ohio. The Hamilton County Probate Court can be reached at 513-946-3600 and is located at the William Howard Taft Center on 230 East Ninth Street in Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.

Zimmer Law Firm will help you if you must go to this court, so give us a call before you initiate probate or guardianship proceedings so you’ll have an experienced legal advocate to help you through the entirety of the probate or guardianship process.

Some years ago, Barry Zimmer suggested we do a basic estate plan for our son when he went to college. We had no idea how important it would be! In our son's freshman year, he ended up in the hospital, and we were able to get crucial information about his condition because we had a health care ...
